After a brief lull, the 2013 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs were back in effect last night. We’ve got more hockey headed our way tonight as well; The Eastern Conference will be getting moving once again. Before that puck drops, though, let’s take a look at some of the notable players and storylines out there.

Jeff Carter, C, Los Angeles Kings: Early in the first period of last night’s Western Conference Finals Game 2, it looked like the Blackhawks had another game in hand. They had a 2-0 lead and firm control in the game, but then the floodgates opened. The Kings would go on to score six unanswered goals to cruise to a 6-2 victory and a 1-1 tie in the series.
Carter had a heavy hand in the scoring barrage, posting a hat trick and an assist. Jonathan Quick, meanwhile, made 23 stops on 25 shots.
L.A. was able to stifle the Blackhawks’ speed enough to allow themselves some rhythm on offense, and things simply started going well from there. They’ll be looking to duplicate that formula at home in Game 3 Saturday.

Dustin Tokarski, G, Montreal Canadiens: Yesterday, the Canadiens announced that Tokarski would be getting the start in goal for tonight’s Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the New York Rangers.
Tokarski played okay in Game 2, making 27 saves on 30 shots. He’ll be on a short leash in this one; If he struggles early on, we’d imagine the Canadiens will pull him and stick Peter Budaj back in there.

Derick Brassard, C, New York Rangers: Let’s head to the other bench in the Eastern Conference Finals matchup and check out Brassard. The good news on him is that he was a participant in yesterday’s practice and appears to be much improved over Monday.
Brassard’s undisclosed injury (which initially looked like a back issue) has kept him out since Game 1 in this series. He’s still currently considered day-to-day, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see him out there this evening. We’ll have to keep an eye out for an update on his status today.

NHL Daily Schedule: The Canadiens and Rangers will get back to business tonight. Here’s a look at the schedule, along with the start time and TV networks carrying the game.
