The Line: Los Angeles Kings / Chicago Blackhawks --- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The Chicago Blackhawks and Los Angeles Kings will play game six of the Western Conference finals on Friday night. The Kings lead the series, 3-2.
The Blackhawks avoided elimination with a 5-4 overtime win in game five. Patrick Kane led the way with four assists in the victory and now has five points in his last two games. The Blackhawks are now 7-3 in the playoffs when scoring at least three goals. Heading back to Los Angeles, however, the Blackhawks have to be concerned with goalie Corey Crawford, who has allowed 17 goals in his last four games. Jonathan Toews does have a point in four of the five games in this series and still leads the Blackhawks with eight playoff goals. The Blackhawks have lost four of their last five road playoff games, including both against Los Angeles. The Chicago Blackhawks are 21-18-7-3 on the road overall.
USA TODAY Sports
Despite having a one-goal lead heading into the fourth period, the Kings blew a chance to reach the Stanley Cup Finals. Even with the loss, the Kings are 10-4 in the playoffs when scoring at least three goals. Besides having an off game in game five, Jonathan Quick has allowed two or less goals in 10 of his last 15 starts. Offensively, Marian Gaborik has scored a goal in back-to-back games and Jeff Carter has at least one point in every game this series. The Kings have won their last three home playoff games and are 28-16-3-2 on their home ice overall this season.
The Blackhawks are 8-2 in their last 10 games playing on 1 days rest and 10-4 in their last 14 Conference Finals games. The Kings are 54-25 in their last 79 home games and 1-5 in their last 6 when their opponent scores 5 goals or more in their previous game. The Blackhawks are 21-9 in the last 30 meetings.
The Kings could have won game five, as they had a shot in the first overtime bounce off the crossbar. The Kings are just the more aggressive team in this series and have killed Crawford in net. With the Kings at home and the cheap price, I have no choice but to take LA to move on to the finals.
