NHL Daily Updates: Checking in on the Rangers, Tonight's TV Schedule and More
May 30, 2014
We got another dose of Conference Finals action in the 2014 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs last night, and there’s more on the way as we inch toward the finals. Before we get set for tonight’s game, let’s take a closer look at the noteworthy happenings around the league in our daily checkup. Here’s the latest.
Henrik Lundqvist, G, New York Rangers: The New York Rangers are heading to the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time in 20 years, and they have Lundqvist to thank. He was rock-solid in Game 6 last night, logging 18 very important saves in a 1-0 victory that clinched the series 4-2 for the Rangers. He now has 42 postseason victories, which puts him alone atop the franchise list. New York’s lone goal came on Dominic Moore’s lone shot, a second period snap that proved to be all the team needed.
Dustin Tokarski was great on the other end of the ice as well, posting 31 saves on 32 shots. His offense couldn’t get him any help, however, as the Rangers’ defense proved to be in fallible in this one.
The Rangers will continue their quest for the team’s first Stanley Cup since 1994 when the Finals begin on June 4. They’ll play either the Kings or the Blackhawks (L.A. leads that one 3-2 at the moment). In the meantime, it’s rest and preparation on the schedule.

What to Watch Tonight: Tonight’s Game 6 of the Western Conference finals between the Los Angeles Kings and the Chicago Blackhawks should be another good one. The defending champs are coming off a wild 5-4 double-overtime victory that extended the series and gave them a little breathing room. Their backs are still up against the wall, however, as a loss will send them home and put the Kings in the Finals.
This isn’t unfamiliar territory for the Blackhawks, who came back from 1-3 down against the Red Wings last year on their way to a Stanley Cup win. Still, the momentum is with the Kings tonight, as they’re back in familiar territory on their home ice.
NHL Daily Schedule: The playoffs pick back up again tonight, which continues the schedule through this long weekend. Here’s a look at that schedule, along with the start times and TV networks carrying each game.
