The Air Canada Centre and the Toronto Maple Leafs host the Pittsburgh Penguins Saturday night.
The Pittsburgh Penguins opened the season with a 6-4 scorefest victory over Anaheim at the Consol Energy Center on Thursday. Once the Penguins started scoring they never stopped as they peppered Ducks netminder John Gibson with 39 shots. Sydney Crosby led the offensive assault with a pair of goals and two helpers with Pascal Dupuis enjoyed a one goal three assist night while Olli Maatta posted a trio of helpers. Marc-Andre Fleury was the benefactor of the Pens scoring spree with a 25 save effort that was good enough to get the victory.
USA TODAY Sports
The Toronto Maple Leafs coughed up an early lead in dropping their season opener by a 4-3 count to the visiting Canadiens on Wednesday night. Toronto had defeated Montreal four consecutive times but Jonathan Bernier's 28 saves wasn't enough to keep the streak alive. Tyler Bozak, Nazem Kadri and Morgan Rielly each lit the lamp for the Leafs while Tomas Plekanec scored twice including the game winner with just 43 seconds left in regulation. PK Subban and Max Pacioretty also scored for the Habs with the win going to Carey Price who recorded 24 stops in the victory.
The home team has won 8-11 with the Penguins going 4-1 in the last five meetings while the over has gone 20-8-1 in the last 29 match ups. I'm leaning Pens pending goalies so check back Saturday afternoon...
