The Philadelphia Flyers travel to the American Airlines Center to take the ice with the Dallas Stars.
The Philadelphia Flyers early season skid continued in a 4-3 shootout loss to visiting Anaheim on Tuesday that kept the Flyers still looking for their first win. William Karlsson won it for the visitors as he beat Philly goaltender Steve Mason in the fourth round to give the Ducks their third straight road victory. Anaheim received goals in regulation from Devante Smith-Pelly, Tim Jackman and Matt Belesky while the win went to Frederik Andersen who recorded 39 stops. Philadelphia was deadly on the power play with Mark Streit beating Andersen on a 5-3 advantage in the second to cut the deficit to 2-1 before Wayne Simmons tied the score on another power play. Jakub Voracek netted the equalizer in the third but Mason's 25 save effort wasn't enough.

The Dallas Stars scored on the power play with a mere three seconds remaining in regulation to squeeze by the Penguins 3-2 for their first win in Pittsburgh since 2000. This one appeared to be heading for overtime when Sydney Crosby was sent to the box for tripping with just under ten seconds left and Tyler Sequin made the Pens pay with a wrister from the left circle. The Stars trailed 2-0 in the second when Antoine Roussel lit the lamp in the second to half the Penguins lead before a tying goal was waved off with just over 3 1/2 minutes remaining when Sequin was whistled for goalie interference. There was no intereference 36 seconds later when Jamie Benn smacked a loose puck past Marc-Andre Fleury to set up Sequin's last second heroics. Kari Lehtonen picked up the win with 27 saves.
Philadelphia is 0-5 in their last five games with the over going 7-1 in their last eight contests versus a team with a home winning % of less then .400. Dallas is 2-7 in their last nine contests after giving up two goals or less in their previous game while amassing a 40-14 record in their last 55 home games against a team with a road winning % of less then .400. Head to head the Flyers are 7-1 in the last eight meetings with the under going 5-1 in the last six in Dallas while the under is 10-4 in the last 14 match ups overall. Philadelphia has had success versus Dallas but need to snap out of the early season funk to continue that success. No goalies have been announced but check back Saturday afternoon for a final pick...
