The Calgary Flames go on the road to take the ice with the Winnipeg Jets at the MTS Centre Sunday.
The Calgary Flames suffered a 3-2 road defeat at columbus on Friday night that saw their record drop to 3-3. This was a case of too little, too late as the Flames fell behind by three goals and a late rally simply came up short with no offense or defense through two periods. Jack Skille and Ryan Johansen lit the lamp in the opening frame with Mark Calvert adding a second period goal for a 3-0 lead before Calgary began their rally. Mason Raymond and Josh Jooris both scored goals in the third to begin their NHL careers but the Flames could not get the equalizer with Mark Giordano coming close when he hit the post with less then two minutes remaining. The win went to Sergei Bobrovsky who recorded 29 stops while Karri Ramo was tagged with the loss on a 23 save performance.

The Winnipeg Jets offense never got going in a 2-0 loss to visiting Nashville in Friday night action. The Predators won their first road contest of the season and in the process Winnipeg dropped their home opener. Mark Ribeiro gave the visitors all the offense they would need on a redirected shot with under four minutes left in the opening period as Ondrej Pavelec had zero chance to react. James Neal added his first goal with Nashville since coming over from the Penguins at the 7:31 mark of the third before handing the game over to Pekka Rinne who recorded his 33rd career shutout with a 31 save effort. Pavelec played well in defeat with a 25 stop performance but he should sue his offense for non support with just a singlle goal in three consecutive defeats.
The under is 3-0-1 in the Flames last four contests and is also 3-0-1 in the past four games overall while Calgary is 0-4 in the last four games when playing on one day of rest. Winnipeg is 1-6 in their last seven games when playing on one day of rest and are 1-4 in their past five games on home ice while the under has gone 4-1 in the Jets last five home contests. Head to head the over has gone 4-0 in the past four meetings in Winnipeg with the over also going 5-0 in the last five meetings overall while the road team is 4-1 in the last five match ups. The trends say Calgary has a decent shot and plenty of goals will be scored. No line is out and no goalies have been announced but I'll have something figured out by Sunday afternoon...
