The Arizona Coyotes and Nashville Predators meet Sunday in game one of the NHL West Qualifying action at the Rogers Place.

The Arizona Coyotes entered the NHL break splitting their last 10 games. The Arizona Coyotes are averaging 2.7 goals per game and are scoring on 19.2 percent of their power play opportunities. Conor Garland leads Arizona with 22 goals, Nick Schmaltz has 34 assists and Oliver Ekman-Larsson has 135 shots on goal. Defensively, the Arizona Coyotes are allowing 2.6 goals per game and are killing 82.7 percent of their opponents power plays. Darcy Kuemper has given up 65 goals on 903 shots faced and Antti Raanta has allowed 80 goals on 1,014 shots.

The Nashville Predators entered the NHL break winning six of their last nine games. The Nashville Predators are averaging 3.1 goals per game and are scoring on 17.3 percent of their power play opportunities. Filip Forsberg leads Nashville with 21 goals, Roman Josi has 49 assists and Craig Smith has 184 shots on goal. Defensively, the Nashville Predators are allowing 3.1 goals per game and are killing 76.1 percent of their opponents power plays. Pekka Rinne has given up 105 goals on 1,004 shots faced and Juuse Saros has allowed 98 goals on 1,142 shots.

The Coyotes are 10-3 in their last 13 games playing on 2 days rest, 4-12 in their last 16 games as an underdog and 8-17 in their last 25 overall. The Predators are 7-1 in their last 8 games playing on 2 days rest, 4-1 in their last 5 games following a win and 7-3 in their last 10 Sunday games. The under is 13-6 in Predators last 19 overall. The Coyotes are 8-22-1 in the last 31 meetings in Nashville.

The Arizona Coyotes are a team I’ve tried to make a case for many times this season, but they just can’t close the deal most nights and lack firepower on the offensive side. The Arizona Coyotes have also been horrible in the underdog role for most of the season. The Nashville Predators entered the break playing some of their better hockey of the season and they’re a club used to playoff games. I’ll lay the juice with the Preds.
