The Maple Leafs head into Wednesday night's grudge match with the Ottawa Senators fresh off a victory (up 5-2 late in the third) last night against the New York Islanders and they'll look for a sweep of the double header tonight against the Sens. Toronto has had an up and down start to the season but aside from their play on the ice something that has gotten a lot of attention over the last couple of weeks has been Toronto's fanfare on the road and we should get another example of that tonight. It is no secret that the Leafs are one of the most established and loyal fan bases in North America and they always travel well close to the border and especially in Canada as fans flock to visiting arenas. Ottawa is perhaps the biggest culprit of this as the arena will be a 50-50 split at best and the Leafs usually have the home ice factor here despite playing on the road and to me that plays a factor in Ottawa's performances in these home games. The Leafs get their first crack at Ottawa as we are likely to see James Reimer go head to head with Craig Anderson.
The Senators are off to a red hot start and they'll look to keep that going in this one against their hated rivals from Toronto on an otherwise quiet night on the ice. Ottawa is often labelled as a team that is bound to underachieve yet they somehow push through and have been in or on the brink of making the playoffs for the last five seasons and they should be right in the thick of things again this season. Ottawa is in the midst of a goaltending controversy as it is uncertain who the number one is between Craig Anderson and Robin Lehner but we are likely to see the former in this one as it is his job to lose right now and against the Leafs a strong effort could go a very long way to cementing that title for the foreseeable future. This is going to be an exciting game between two teams that hate each other and while the Buds played last night I think they are still focused on this one and will be excited to play in front of the large Leafs crowd in Ottawa. Great value here on the visitors.
