The Anaheim Ducks were one of the league's hottest teams heading into their Sunday encounter with the San Jose Sharks but a 4-1 loss at the hands of their in state rivals dealt them a little does of reality on home ice. Anaheim needs to have a short memory as they head into Chicago on Tuesday night to make on a Blackhawks team that has the Stanley Cup on their minds once again and in order to get there it means getting through the Ducks in the regular season and possibly come playoff time. Anaheim is rock solid and should very much be treated as a Cup contender by every team they encounter whether it's on the road or at home and with Frederik Andersen proving he can be a go to guy in the crease the Ducks have very little to worry about on nightly basis. Andersen will get the start here for the Ducks as he will likely go up against Corey Crawford who should be back from injury.
The Blackhawks were one bounce away from advancing to their second straight Stanley Cup finals last year as they played the Los Angeles Kings to a deciding game seven in the Western Conference final but as we all know it was the visiting Kings who got the win and ultimately took the Stanley Cup. Chicago wasted no time securing their chances as a Cup contender for the next decade by signing Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane long term and with their blue line anchored by Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook and their secondary scoring led by Patrick Sharp the Hawks are in a great position to go deep in the playoffs once again this season. While the Hawks are a tough out at home I don't understand the line here as this is a potential Western Conference final and with the scoring from the Ducks being comparable to Chicago's I look to the crease to gain an edge and while Crawford has a strong resume he hasn't played a ton this season and I think Andersen can steal this one for Anaheim.
