Carolina Hurricanes vs. Los Angeles Kings - 11/2/14 NHL Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Carolina Hurricanes are coming off their first win of the season with a 3-0 victory Saturday over the Arizona Coyotes. The shutout is impressive considering the Hurricanes have been brutal on the defensive side and are allowing nearly four goals per game. It was the Hurricanes first shutout since March 27th of last season. Anton Khudobin has allowed 13 goals on 119 shots faced and Cam Ward has given up 16 goals on 125 shots. The Carolina Hurricanes haven’t allowed a power play goal in five of their last seven games. Offensively, Jiri Tlusty leads Carolina with six goals, Andrej Sekera has three assists and Riley Nash has 14 shots on goal. This is just the fourth home game for the Carolina Hurricanes, and they look for back-to-back wins for the first time since the end of last season.

The Kings are 4-0 in their last 4 Sunday games and 14-5 in their last 19 vs. Eastern Conference. The Hurricanes are 17-39 in their last 56 games playing on 0 days rest and 7-19 in their last 26 vs. Pacific. The Kings are 5-1 in the last 6 meetings, while the home team is 10-3-1 in the last 14 meetings.

You have to like the Kings in this spot considering they're the more rested and overall better team. Besides Saturday's win, the Hurricanes have shown no signs of life and that should continue against one of the more talented teams in the league.
