The Line: New York Islanders -144 / Colorado Avalanche +131 --- Over/Under: 5.5 See the Latest Odds

The Colorado Avalanche and New York Islanders play Tuesday at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

The Colorado Avalanche have lost six of their last eight games and continue to struggle at both ends of the ice. Offensively, the Avalanche are averaging 2.4 goals per game and have scored two or less goals in five of their last eight games. The Colorado Avalanche have lost nine of their last 10 games when scoring two or less goals. Alex Tanguay leads Colorado with six goals, Ryan O'Reilly has seven assists and Matt Duchene has 47 shots on goal. The Avalanche haven’t scored a power play goal in four straight games. Defensively, Reto Berra has allowed 12 goals on 139 shots, Semyon Varlamov has given up 27 goals on 358 shots and Calvin Pickard has allowed seven goals on 63 shots. The Avalanche have allowed four power play goals in their last two games.

Islanders vs. Avalanche - 11/11/14 NHL Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The New York Islanders have won three straight games and return from a five-game road trip. The Islanders have allowed just three goals in their last three games and have won 13 straight games when allowing two or less goals. However, defense hasn’t been the Islanders strong point this season, as they’re allowing three goals per game and killing just 71.1 percent of power plays. Jaroslav Halak has allowed 25 goals on 264 shots and Chad Johnson has given up 16 goals on 144 shots faced. Offensively, Brock Nelson leads New York with seven goals, Kyle Okposo has nine assists and John Tavares has 45 shots on goal. The Islanders continue to prove they’re one of the better offensive teams in the league and have scored three power play goals in their last three games.

The Avalanche are 8-3 in their last 11 games playing on 2 days rest and 1-12 in their last 13 road games. The Islanders are 11-23 in their last 34 home games and 8-2 in their last 10 games following a win. The Avalanche are 1-6 in the last 7 meetings in New York, while the home team is 10-4-1 in the last 15 meetings.

The Avalanche have had little to no success in New York and have had no success on the road at all this season. While the chalk isn't great, you have to back the Islanders in this spot until Colorado can prove it can win on the road.
