NHL Daily Updates: Checking in on the Latest News, Daily Schedule and More
November 11, 2014
We had just two games in the NHL last night, but we’ll be making up for it with 11 matchups this evening. Before we get set for game-time, let’s take a moment to check out some of the notable players out there and see what everyone’s been up to.
Patrice Bergeron, C, Boston Bruins: The Bruins stayed hot yesterday with a win against the Devils, while New Jersey continued on their losing skid. Bergeron led the way for Boston on a goal and two assists, while RW Seth Griffith logged a beautiful goal (that turned out to be the game-winner) in the second period of the 4-2 victory. Reilly smith also added a goal and an assist to the cause.
It was Boston’s fifth straight win, which brings them to 10-6-0 on the year so far.

Justin Faulk, D, Carolina Hurricanes: For a while, it looked like this one would be tight, but the Hurricanes pulled away in the second period and really never looked back. Faulk posted a goal and a pair of assists in the 4-1 win, while Jeff Skinner had a goal and an assist of his own.
On defense, Cam Ward held down the fort with 22 saves on 23 shots. The Hurricanes are now on a 5-0-1 streak, while the Flames stand at 9-6-2 on the year.
The Jackets have had a couple of injury issues over the past couple of days, but neither seems to be too serious. Winger Jack Skille is considered questionable for today’s game against the Capitals after sustaining an injury during Saturday’s game.
Defenseman Fedor Tyutin is in the same boat; he’s been fighting an undisclosed injury and is considered questionable today. That said, even if one or both guys miss tonight, they should be back soon.
Good news for the Penguins. They’ll be getting winger Steve Downie back tonight against the Rangers. He had to leave Saturday’s game after sustaining an injury in a fight, but he seems to be doing fine now.
The Stars’ Cody Eakin has a pretty good chance at playing today against the Coyotes. He did some individual skating before yesterday’s practice, which is a good sign he’s just about over his upper-body injury.
Even if he doesn’t play tonight, there’s a great chance Eakin will be ready for Thursday’s matchup.
