The Boston Bruins have been business as usual so far this season despite undergoing a bit of an overhaul in the offseason as well as losing their captain and defensive leader Zdeno Chara but through their first 16 games they are 10-6 and have really turned things up of late. The B's have been a perennial Cup contender for the last five or six seasons and should be considered amongst a handful of teams in the running this season especially in the Eastern Conference where things are so much more wide open and where it looks like anyone can win on any given day. Tuukka Rask returns to Toronto where he was originally drafted and was a piece in the unmentionable Andrew Raycroft deal a number of years back and through his career Rask has been lights out in Toronto and he will look to do so again tonight. The Bruins are 4-2 on the road this season and won their last trip to the ACC in October.
The Maple Leafs had a successful road trip capped off with a victory at MSG against the New York Rangers and they return home looking to maintain their confidence and upend one of their archrivals in the process. Toronto is a tough team to figure out this season as they have the roster to be competitive in the Eastern Conference but they haven't been able to generate any consistency on the ice and as such they sit at 8-5-2 on the year and in the middle of the Atlantic division. However, the Buds are 6-2-2 in their last 10 games and have won two straight and returning home for a huge contest like this one against Boston who started Toronto's losing skid in their last meeting could make for a statement effort out of Toronto. While Boston has been playing well they have been the beneficiary of some lucky bounces and in a spot like this I'll take the home side at plus money.
