The Buffalo Sabres look for a road win when they visit the Xcel Energy Center to tangle with the Minnesota Wild.
The Buffalo Sabres are in need of a few victories to help take the pressure off of what has been a very slow start to the season. The Sabres were in the wrong place at the wrong time in a 6-1 defeat at red hot St Louis who have now won eight of nine. Rookie Jori Lehtera paced the Blues scoring assault with a hat trick with Joakim Lindstrom adding a pair of tallies with David Backes also lighting the lamp. Brian Elliott was the benefactor of the scoring spree with 28 stops in getting the victory. The Sabres only goal came in the third courtesy of Tyler Ennis while Michael Neuvirth was charged with all six goals on 29 shots as his defense faltered in front of him.

The Minnesota Wild are in need of a win as they return home to the Xcel Energy Center to face Buffalo. The Wild concluded their road trip with a 3-1 defeat at New Jersey which has the team staring at a four game slide. The offense never got going and the defense couldn't win on their lonesome as Tuomo Ruutu, Mike Cammalleri scored with Traviz Zajac scoring an empty netter to secure the win. The victory went to Cory Schneider who gave up the lone goal on 24 shots to snap the Devils four game slide. Minnesota's only goal came while shorthanded off the stick of Ryan Carter but it as all for naught as Darcy Kuemper was saddled with the loss with a 20 stop performance as Minnesota's losing streak reached four games.
The under is 2-0-2 in Sabres last 4 games playing on 1 days rest and the over is 3-0-1 in Sabres last 4 after allowing 5 goals or more in their previous game while the under is 5-1 in Sabres last 6 road games. For Minnesota the under is 4-0-1 in Wild last 5 overall while the Wild are 0-4 in their last 4 vs. Eastern Conference and 0-4 in their last 4 overall. Head to head the under is 4-0-1 in the last 5 meetings while the road team is 10-3 in the last 13 meetings with the Sabres going 5-2 in the last 7 meetings in Minnesota. Neither team is winning aalthough Buffalo is obviously struggling more so I'm leaning Wild while waiting for netminders so please check back Thursday afternoon for a final pick...
