The Bruins went into Toronto last night with a ton of confidence after winning five games in a row but were absolutely thrashed (at least through 40 minutes) by the Buds and will look to regroup on the second night of a back to back this time in Montreal. Boston had gotten the better of the Leafs earlier this season in Toronto and with the Montreal game tonight on tap it was a perfect trap and look ahead spot for the Bruins as we were all over the Maple Leafs yesterday and while it is tough to look at last night's game as an indicator for tonight it certainly has to play a factor for both teams. The B's went with Tuukka Rask last night indicating they are probably going with Niklas Svedberg tonight and against a goalie like Carey Price it is clear that the battle in the crease leans the way of the home side.
Montreal has been among the game's most consistent teams this season and heading into Thursday night's show down with Boston they sit a point back of the Lightning for top spot in the East and sport an 11-4-1 mark through their first 16 contests. Montreal advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals a season ago and took down the mighty Bruins in the process and many people believe that had the Bruins faced anyone but Montreal that they would have advanced to the Cup finals and perhaps given the Kings a better run than the Rangers but that is a moot point now. The Canadiens have won their last three games and are very tough to beat at home and while I expect this line to change based on the outcome of the Leafs game I still think Montreal is the better side here and they get the victory at home.
