The Ducks and Canucks meet up in Vancouver on Thursday night as both teams look to take claim to the top spot in the Pacific division.

The Anaheim Ducks are coming off a tough loss in Calgary in their last outing and while they remain a point up on the Canucks for top spot in the Pacific division they have dropped 7 of their last 10 games though five of them have come via overtime or the shootout. Anaheim is certainly still a favourite to win the Western Conference and while we are still early in the season this would be a huge momentum booster for them as they head into Vancouver to face some familiar foes and new Duck Ryan Kesler returns to Vancouver for what should be a relatively hostile reception. The Ducks to me are the deeper team between these two clubs at least in the offensive zone and with Edmonton taking the Canucks to the bitter end last night in a 5-4 thriller this could be the perfect opportunity for Anaheim to back in the win column despite being on the road.
The Canucks avoided a loss in Edmonton last night as they fended off their division rivals who threw up quite a surge at the end of the game and now they return home with the possibility of leapfrogging the Ducks for top spot in the division and Western Conference. Vancouver as mentioned in articles past has certainly turned a corner this season after an absolute debacle a year ago and with a home win over the Ducks and Kesler it would go a long way in increasing the confidence of this team that holds a 13-6 mark through 19 games. Eddie Lack is slated to get the start and while he doesn't have the win totals that Ryan Miller has he has been a capable alternative and was the team's starter for the majority of last season so he can certainly get it done but he will be in tough against the Ducks. This should be a great game and while the line is surely to move depending on who starts I think Anaheim is the better team and should be able to exploit a tired Vancouver team and grab two much needed points.
