The Pepsi Center and the Colorado Avalanche play host to the Carolina Hurricanes Saturday.
The Colorado Avalanche cotinue their homestand when the Hurricanes come to the Pepsi Center on Saturday. The Avalanche have yet to look like the team that finished last season as they have struggled to string together wins. The Avs saw their chance at a three game wining streak go by the wayside in a 3-2 defeat at the hands of visiting Washington on Thursday night. Danny Briere and Tyson Barrie were goal scorers for Colorado with the loss going to Reto Berra who made 20 saves. Alex Ovechkin won it with his tally late in the third while Nicklas Backstrom and Jason Chimera found the back of the net in the second for Washington while 27 saves from Braden Holtby was a winning performance.

The Carolina Hurricanes stay on the road when they pay a visit to the Pepsi Center to take the ice with the Colorado Avalanche. The Hurricanes will be looking to get back in the win column following a 3-2 defeat at Los Angeles on Thursday. The Canes defense was okay but struggled at times and the offense couldn't compensate. Eric Staal and Jeff Skinner supplied the offense for the Hurricanes but Cam Ward couldn't make it hold up with plenty of rubber thrown his way as he stopped 36-39 shots. Los Angeles saw goals from Jarret Stoll, Tanner Pearson and Trevor Lewis with the victory going to Jonathan Quick and his 25 stops to give his team three straight wins.
The under is 9-1 in Hurricanes last 10 vs. Central and is 21-4-2 in Hurricanes last 27 vs. Western Conference while the Hurricanes are 1-5 in their last 6 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of less than .400. For Colorado the over is 7-0 in Avalanche last 7 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400 while the Avalanche are 2-8 in their last 10 when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game with the over going 4-1-1 in Avalanche last 6 games playing on 1 days rest. Head to head the over is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings in Colorado while the Hurricanes are 0-7 in the last 7 meetings in Colorado with the home team is 7-0 in the last 7 meetings. I lean Colorado but paying any kind of chalk with a team that seems 'off' their game rubs me the wrong way...
