NHL Daily Updates: Checking in on the Latest News, Daily Schedule and More
November 23, 2014
It’s been a pretty good weekend for NHL hockey so far, and we’ve got four more games to look forward to today. While we’re getting settled in for the puck drops this afternoon, let’s check out some of the notable players out there in the headlines. Here’s the latest.
Jonathan Bernier, G, Toronto Maple Leafs: The Leafs got a very big and important win over the Red Wings last night, and they did it in front of their home fans. Bernier was solid in the 4-1 win, allowing just one score on 27 shots. Tyler Bozak took care of the offense, posting two goals on two shots.
The victory brings the Leafs to 11-8-2 on the year, and the team made sure to salute their fans after the game.

John Tavares, C, New York Islanders: The Islanders continued their charmed season yesterday, moving to 14-6-0 with their third straight victory and eighth in their past nine.
They did it against the now 13-4-2 Penguins with a 4-1 win, helped out by Tavares’ goal and assist. Matt Martin, Brock Nelson and Anders Lee also scored.
We’ll see if this Isles team can duplicate the success teams had in the early 80s, but they’re definitely starting off well.
Jamie Benn, LW, Dallas Stars: Benn had a nice game against the defending champion Kings, posting two goals and an assist in a wild 5-4 win. John Klingberg also helped out with a score and a helper. They were two of the four Stars players with multiple points in this one.
On the other side, Justin Williams scored twice but couldn’t help the team overcome Dallas’ 3-0 lead in the first.
Marian Hossa, RW, Chicago Blackhawks: The Oilers have hit the skids lately, and Chicago was there yesterday to keep that trend moving. Hossa logged four points on three assists and a goal in the dominant 7-1 victory, while Jonathan Toews (two goals) and Patrick Kane (goal; assist) produced multi-point outings as well.
Corey Crawford made 24 saves and now has eight victories thus far.
The Oilers are 0-10-1 against the West this season.
