The Pittsburgh Penguins and Carolina Hurricanes battle in the second game of their home and home series.
The Carolina Hurricanes look for a sweep of their home and home series of high flying Pittsburgh on Saturday. The worse road team in the NHL improved to 3-9-2 away from home ice with an unlikely 4-2 victory over the Penguins with a two goal third winning it. Nathan Gerbe scored the eventual game winner in the third with the man advantage with Jiri Tlusty netting a pair of goals including an empty netter to seal the deal. Patrick Dwyer also score for Carolina to make a winner of Cam Ward who brushed aside 20 shots. The Hurricanes improved to 2-4-2 in their last eight visits to Pittsburgh.

The Pittsburgh Penguins pay a visit PNC Arena looking for a split of their home and home series with the Hurricanes after both ends of the ice came up short in Friday's defeat at the Consol Energy Center. This was one where the Canes completely threw the trends out the window as they were just 1-5 in the last five match ups with the Pens. The Consol Energy Center was a house of horrors for Carolina but they stymied the Pittsburgh attack with Patric Hornqvist and Kris Letang finding the back of the net. Sydney Crosby posted a pair of assists for his 6th helper in three contests. Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 31-34 shot to absorb the loss.
The under is 5-0 in Penguins last 5 road games and is 7-1 in Penguins last 8 games playing on 0 days rest while the Penguins are 7-1 in their last 8 in the second game of a home-and-home situation. For Carolina the under is 5-0-1 in Hurricanes last 6 home games while the Hurricanes are 2-6 in their last 8 overall and are 5-1 in their last 6 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of greater than .600. Head to head the Penguins are 5-2 in the last 7 meetings and are 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in Carolina. No goalies confirmed but I think the Penguins will be out for blood so that's the way I'm leaning for now...
