The Canucks will look to shake off a 5-2 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs as they continue their Eastern Canada road trip in Ottawa on Sunday and with a win they can rdclaim top spot in the Pacific division if the Ducks fall to the Jets in regulation. Vancouver has been among the league's best to start the season as they sport an 18-8-1 record and right back in the running for the President's Trophy after an off year last year that had them outside the playoffs entirely and in a state of turmoil thanks to ongoing issues both on and off the ice. The Canucks though have been brilliant in this rebound season and should not only be right back in the playoff hunt but are poised to make a deep run at the Stanley Cup. Eddie Lack is expected to get the start in goal as he will go up against Craig Anderson in what should be an exciting contest at Scotiabank Place.
The Senators were right with the Penguins for 60 minutes in yesterday’s show down in what is quickly becoming a fierce rivalry but ultimately they couldn't do enough to secure a point and lost by a 3-2 final. Ottawa will look to bounce back on home ice against a tough Vancouver Canucks team but they are 5-3-3 in Ottawa this season but know that Vancouver will be a tough out as indicated by their 11-5 record on the road. A lot of teams talk about how taxing the trip to Western Canada can be despite the Oilers being at the bottom of the league standings and the Flames finally getting things going this season but generally speaking these Western teams usually fair quite well in their Eastern Canada trips and while the Canucks lost last night I think they get back in the win column here ad Lack shuts the door and gets two points for the visitors.
