The Oilers and Sharks complete their home and home set with a show down in San Jose on Tuesday two nights after Edmonton ended their ugly 11 game winless streak.

The Edmonton Oilers finally have a gorilla sized weight of their backs after snatching a 2-1 win over the Sharks on Sunday night and while it must feel good to end their losing ways the team is still light years out of contention and have a number of issues left to resolve. The Oilers aren't nearly as bad on paper as their record indicates and many believed this would be the season they would finally make a serious push forward and compete for ap layoff spot but instead it has been the same old song and dance and Edmonton sits in last place in the league and in serious contention to land the top draft pick. Edmonton is going to be active in terms of personnel moving spots whether that be Dallas Eakins getting the snip from behind the bench or some of their key pieces getting shipped out of town but either way we can expect a very different Oilers team in a few weeks time. For now though the Oilers will look to grab their second straight win and hand San Jose another frustrating loss on a season that hasn't gone to plan.
The San Jose Sharks have been a struggling unit as well this season and while they may not be to the extent of the Oilers they could very well be as disappointing as the Sharks are always projected for big thigns yet they sit in fifth place in the Pacific and are just three games above .500. San Jose has played much better of late going 5-3-2 in their last 10 games but couldn't muster any offense against the Oilers on Sunday and were held to under 20 shots which against Edmonton is unheard of as they are usually giving up totals in the 30's and 40's. San Jose though is an organization that doesn't take kindly to embarrassment and have guys in the room that will be amped to respond and while it was nice for Edmonton to end their lasing streak I think another one starts tonight.
