The Wild have won six of their last 10 contests and are quickly climbing up the ranks in the Central division and they'll look for another boost of confidence with a win here against a San Jose team coming off a home and home split with the Edmonton Oilers. Minnesota was expected to be a contender in the West this season and while they have been a playoff team in each of the last two years since Ryan Suter joined the club there was a little extra buzz around the group this year and while opinions on the matter may differ I think Minny is doing a pretty good job this season. The Wild are 15-10-1 so far this year and are four points back of the Jets for fourth place in the division which is an attainable mark for sure but Minny needs to step on the gas as the Christmas break approaches as only the top three teams in each division are guaranteed a spot in the playoffs. Darcy Kuemper is expected to get the call for the Wild as he will go up against Antii Niemi for the Sharks.
San Jose rebounded after losing to the Oilers in Edmonton on Sunday with a 5-2 win over the Oil back in San Jose on Tuesday but now shift gears to take on a Minnesota team with a much higher degree of skill than their last two. The Sharks have been a very tough team to sort out as they have the talent to be a Western Conference power but so far they have been very streaky and sit fourth in the Pacific division behind Calgary, Vancouver, and Anaheim. San Jose can go the other way with their momentum though and perhaps their win against Edmonton is the start of something trending upwards and with their home record usually among the best in the game I think the Sharks can continue their winning streak here. The value lies with Minnesota but I think the matchup favours San Jose who should get the two points.
