The Flames were the talk of the NHL to start the season as a young team with very little expectations was soaring high in the Pacific division and had playoffs on the brain instead of a potential top draft pick. Calgary does have a great young core and some more pieces are on the way making them a team to watch out for in the next couple of seasons but there is a very real possibility they could keep up their winning ways and challenge for a playoff spot though I think we are more likely to see their regression continue a bit. Calgary is running away with some pretty impressive statistics at the moment though as they are head and shoulders above the rest of the league in terms of production from their defensemen as Mark Giordano is off to a crazy pace and if they can continue to get secondary or primary scoring for that matter from the blue line than they have a great chance to keep this one close against a red hot Blackhawks side.
The Hawks are coming off a loss last night but are still 8-2 in their last 10 games and are certainly among the best teams in hockey which accounts for the lopsided line in this game. Chicago was one bounce away from advancing to yet another Stanley Cup final but ultimately it went the way of the Kings leaving Chicago with a long offseason but they have responded nicely and should challenge to get to the Cup finals once again this season. The Hawks will go with Antii Raanta in this one as he will go up against Jonas Hiller and while Calgary has been able to stay competitive in big games this season this one just seems like a tough spot. Either way I think we see a ton of scoring as the Flames get it done on special teams and Chicago just has so much fire power and together I think we see a final that goes over the number.
