The Sens were the first team in the NHL to fire their head coach this season and the Edmonton Oilers followed suit a week later and now the team will look to Dave Cameron to help turn their season around and perhaps get back to the playoffs. Ottawa was expected to do some damage in the East this season but they fell well short of the start they envisioned and unfortunately someone had to go and usually the head coach is the first on the list. Ottawa did respond with a win over the Bruins in Boston over the weekend but lost in a shootout to the Sabres their last time out and now head into New jersey to take on a Devils side who is also in dire need of a victory. Craig Anderson will get the start as he will go up against Corey Schneider for the Devils.
The Devils return home looking to get back in the win column after dropping an overtime decision to the Isles in their last outing. New Jersey is in a funk at the moment as they have dropped 8 of their last 10 games and are falling quickly in the Metropolitan division but they do face some good news as they will start to play more games on home ice as they have played just 11 of 32 contests in New Jersey so hopefully some home cooking will turn things around. New Jersey is an older team that relies too much on their veteran players to produce which could result in a full blown rebuild if they're not careful but with some of the young talent they do have namely Adam Larsson and Adam Henrique than maybe long term that is the best approach. Either way the Devils get a Senators team here that is struggling mightily and to be honest I don't see either of these teams as playoff contenders and this game is a toos up. I will side with the Devils just because they're at home and have a greater shot at turning thigns around than do the Senators based on their division.
