The Ottawa Senators are in a tough place right now as they are falling well short of expectations and have already fired their head coach and while they still sit with a winning record they are comfortably out of a playoff spot at the moment and need to turn things around in a hurry. Ottawa does have some talented players and could very well get back in the mix but to me they look like a side who will be competing for a draft pick instead of a playoff spot especially as the season wears on as I just don't thnk they are good enough to slip in in the Atlantic division. Ottawa will go with Craig Anderson in this one as he has become the everyday number one while Robin Lehner continues to play backup and Anderson will go up against Braden Holtby who will look to continue his strong season between the pipes.
The Capitals have won six of their last 10 games and are starting to make some noise in the Metropolitan division as they are sitting in a tie for third place with the Rangers and are now eight points back of the Isles for second. Washington is under new direction this year as Barry Trotz has taken the reins and they look much better for it as they are a more complete team and are starting to get contributions from all over the ice as opposed to relying solely on Alex Ovechkin. The Caps to me are a team to look out for in the East as they started off very slowly and were written off but a bunch of people but now that some of their prized acquisitions are starting to play better and Holtby is getting it together in the crease I think they could very well take a run at the Pens and Isles for the division crown. The Caps are getting a little too much credit here against the Sens but I don't think we have much of a choice as I think Washington gets it done in regulation.
