The Canucks look to get back in the win column after a mini two game slide over the weekend but they'll have to play their best hockey in order to do so as they're going up against the Central division and league leading Predators on Tuesday night. Vancouver has enjoyed a resurgence back to the playoff discussion this year after a year in turmoil and for their efforts we are hearing rumbling of Willie Desjardins as a possible Jack Adams winner as the NHL Coach of the Year and while that remains to be seen it is clear that the team has responded well under their new bench boss. Vancouver can pull to within nine points of the Ducks with a win tonight and while there is plenty of time left in the season it looks like the rest of the Pacific division is battling for second as Anaheim is on some kind of roll right now and will be tough to slow down. Ryan Miller will start and will likely be going up against Pekka Rinne in a battle of two 20 game winners.
The Predators have been ridiculous this season and a large part of their success has to go to Pekka Rinne whose sub two GAA at this point in the season is unheard of and he is the favourite right now to win the Vezina as the league's top goalie. The Canucks are enjoying a rebound season as mentioned but the Preds may be taking that a step further as they have gone from missing the postseason in each of the last two years to holding on to the league's best mark and if they can continue their suffocating defensive play late into the season than the Preds could very well skate away Cup champions. As for tonight, the line is still out waiting to hear who is going to start in goal for Nashville and it can make all the difference as Rinne over anyone right now is a big time edge and until that happens I'd be weary of who to take on the side. For now though I'll suggest playing the total and the under is the only play here as I think this one will be a tight game where four goals is the max.
