The Capitals look to shake off a last minute collapse in Nashville last night as they continue their road trip in Dallas to face the Stars.
The Washington Capitals spoiled an opportunity to make a statement last night by throwing away a lead late against the Nashville Predators in Nashville last night and now must take to the road again to face the offensive minded Stars. The Caps have slowly been piecing things together this season under new head coach Barry Trotz who was making his return to Nashville last night and are 7-1-2 in their last 10 contests which has propelled them into third place in the Metro division and in a playoff spot. The Caps seem to be playing a complete team game this season and that is no firther evident than watching Alex Ovechkin who gets ripped on for being a selfish player but he has bought in and so far his team has had great success. They will look to keep it rolling and get back in the win column with an inspired effort in Dallas on Saturday.
The Stars meanwhile look for their sixth win in their last 10 games with a solid outing on Saturday in front of their home fans as their push towards a playoff spot must start right now. Dallas has been a bit of a disappointment this season as they were projected to do some damage in the West after acquiring Jason Spezza and Ales Hemsky but through 43 games they are only two games above .500 and have struggled to keep the puck out of the net – something that Kari Lehtonen did very well for this team last season. The Stars catch a bit of a break with Justin Peters in goal as Braden Holtby finally gets a night off and while the Caps to me are the better team overall I think this spot is a good one for the Stars as they catch Washington coming off a heartbreaking loss, playing in a back to back with travel time and a back up goalie thrown in I think this is Dallas' game to lose.
