The Arizona Coyotes dismal season continued in Minnesota on Saturday and while it took an empty netter to really put the game away the Wild handed Arizona yet another loss and things don't get any easier on Sunday as they take on the Winnipeg Jets. The Coyotes have been in the mix over the last handful of years and were always a surprise team come playoff time but this season has been a tough one from the get go and I think it'll be very difficult for them to get back on track and I fully expect they will be in the running for a top draft pick come July. Mike Smith is expected to get the start as the team continues to reel from the Devan Dubnyk trade and he will likely go up against Ondrej Pavelec who will start in place of Mike Hutchinson.
The Jets have been very exciting to watch this season and made a statement with a road victory against the Chicago Blackhawks in their last outing and they are heavy favourites again here against the lowly Coyotes. The Jets have a very well balanced lineup and have the pedigree to be a playoff team this season after years of hardship and falling short of the bubble but if they can continue to play the way they are at the moment they should not only make the playoffs but be a tough out to any team they match up with in the opening round. The Jets are usually very tough at home but this season it has been their road play that had made the difference but in this spot I think the Jets avoid the let down of winning in Chicago and play a great two way game against the Coyotes. While it may not matter in the desert I think getting a win against their former franchise would be a huge deal to those in Winnipeg and the Jets don't let them down here.
