We’re now officially immersed in the NHL’s All-Star break, and the weekend festivities will be beginning soon. In the meantime, there’s plenty to go over this morning in our daily wrap up, so let’s check on some of the news out there while we’re waiting for the league to kick back up again on January 27.

Erik Karlsson, D, Ottawa Senators: The Senators got a big win over the Leafs yesterday at Canadian Tire Centre, giving Toronto their sixth loss in a row.
Karlsson delivered a pair of goals on six shots in the 4-3 win, while Mike Hoffman provided a goal and an assist for his part.
Ottawa is now 19-18-9 on the year following this victory. The Leafs fall to 22-23-3 and had scored two goals in their last five games prior.

NHL News: Player News and Updates for 1/22/15


Marian Hossa, RW, Chicago Blackhawks: Here’s a good one that many people were looking forward to. Chicago got a 3-2 shootout win over the Penguins yesterday at Consol Energy Center.
Marian Hossa logged a goal and an assist in the victory, while Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane scored in the first two rounds of the shootout.
Chicago is now 30-15-2 while the Pens have lost four straight at 26-12-8.

Michael Hutchinson, G, Winnipeg Jets: The Jets are on a nice five-game winning streak heading into the break, following a 4-0 shutout win over the Blue Jackets last night at MTS Centre. They’re 6-0-1 in their past seven outings.
Hutchinson was great, logging his second pro shutout with 29 saves. He’s 14-4-2 with a 1.90 GAA (third in the NHL).

Ryan Getzlaf, C, Anaheim Ducks: The Ducks had a four-goal lead in this one, and were able to hold off the Flames by an eventual score of 6-3 last night at Honda Center. Six different players scored for Anaheim, including Getzlaf.
The Ducks are now 31-10-6, leading the overall standings on their 68 points so far. The Flames, meanwhile, fall to 25-19-3 and have lost 20 straight regular-season games at Honda Center.
