The Devils have struggled this season and can begin prepping for a strong offseason and entry draft in July and one of their biggest issues to address is bringing in some younger players to build around moving forward. New Jersey went out and acquired Corey Schneider two seasons ago and now in his first full season as the team's starter he has been brilliant and is having one of the better season's nobody is talking about. The Devils head into Chicago having lost back to back games and are 10-16-2 on the road this season and while the Hawks have dropped two in a row as well I think that actually is a detriment to the Devils here as Chicago is in a playoff race and will be looking to make a statement to the rest of the Western Conference. Corey Schneider will get the call in goal as he will go up against Corey Crawford.
Chicago hasn't had the season many expected and while they're still very much in the thick of things in the Central division it looks like they will battling for the three seed or a wild card spot down the stretch instead of a division title. Chicago could very well make amends for their underwhelming regular season by elevating their game in the postseason but there are some very tough teams to contend with especially in the Western Conference and while that can serve as a great test for the Cup representative it also leaves you battered and bruised getting there. The Hawks have the pedigree to run wild towards another Cup but I think they need another piece at the back end and maybe a third line scoring tough and management will likely bring in one or both of those options. As for tonight I think the Hawks score an easy win but Schneider will give his team a chance as this one stays under.
