The Chicago Blackhawks head to the BB&T Center to face the Florida Panthers in Thursday night action.
The Chicago Blackhawks look for back to back wins over Florida when they take the ice at the BB&T Center Thursday. The Blackhawks are hoping to build up some momentum after knocking off the Panthers 3-2 in a shootout Tuesday after squandering a 2-0 lead in the third period. Jonathan Toews and Patrick Sharp scored in the SO to give rookie netminder Scott Darling the win with a strong 34 save performance including a pair of stops in the shootout. Kris Versteeg and Toews also lit the lamp in regulation to send the Blackhawks in to the final period with a 2-0 cushion before the Panthers offense finally came to life.

Jussi Jokinen and Vincent Trocheck each beat Hall late in the final frame to tie the score but Trocheck and Nick Bjugstad failed to score in the shootout. Roberto Luongo was outstanding in defeat with a 36 save performance with goals allowed in the first and second periods before keeping the Hawks off the scoreboard over the final 20 minutes. The Panthers have struggled in this match up with Tuesday's defeat being number six in a row. Florida will not have to face Patrick Kane in the rematch Thursday as he left in the opening frame after a cross-check in to the boards by Alex Petrovic in what the team termed an 'upper body' injury. Florida needs to get their offense untracked as they have now been outscored 9-4 in the last three contests.
The over is 4-0 in Blackhawks last 4 in the second game of a home-and-home situation and is 1-0-3 in Blackhawks last 4 overall while going 1-0-3 in Blackhawks last 4 when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game. For Florida the under is 4-0-2 in Panthers last 6 games playing on 1 days rest and is 2-0-2 in Panthers last 4 Thursday games while the Panthers are 2-11 in their last 13 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game. Head to Head the under is 5-0 in the last 5 meetings in Florida while the Blackhawks are 6-0 in the last 6 meetings with the under going 6-1-1 in the last 8 meetings.
