Ottawa Senators vs. Calgary Flames - 3/8/15 NHL Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Flames have been one of the league's biggest surprises this season as they have gone from having little to no preseason expectations and thinking of getting another top five draft pick to sitting in third place in the Pacific division and battling for a playoff spot. Calgary currently holds down the last automatic berth in the Pacific but things are incredibly tight from second place through to fifth as just four points separate the Flames, Kings, Sharks, and Canucks. Calgary knows they'll be in tough to hold on to a playoff spot without the ser4vices of Mark Giordano who was having a Norris Trophy type season but that won't stop them from continuing to play every single night and being a tough out regardless of the building they are playing in. Jonas Hiller is expected to start as he will go up against Craig Anderson.

The Senators meanwhile have been one of the game's hottest teams since the all-star break and have gone 8-1-1 in their last 10 games which really puts them in a tough spot as they are still an arm's length out of the playoffs but have played their way out of a top draft pick. Ottawa is just five points back of the Boston Bruins for the second wild card spot in the Eastern Conference and they do have a game in hand which they get back here so by the day's end they could very well be just three back on even terms and be ready to make a push towards the postseason. The team turned to Andrew Hammond on a whim thinking their season was over but it has really worked out and now they are right back in the fold and if they can keep up their winning ways it'll be a tight finish to the end. I don't like the price at all here as the Flames have been the better of the two teams all season and shouldn't be getting this much value but I do really think Ottawa gets the win in front of what should be a raucous Sens crowd.
