The Ducks head into New York on Sunday well rested and geared up for a show down in what could very well be a Stanley Cup preview and with a victory Anaheim can claim their fifth in a row and move two points clear of the Canadiens for to spot in the league standings. Anaheim has had another strong season and they are certainly a favourite to emerge out of the Western Conference but a cause for concern has to be the number of close games they have won and whether or not that number can carry over into the postseason where a large number of games are decided by one goal. The Ducks are only +15 on the season which is third worst among teams in a guaranteed playoff spot at the moment and while they have been able to find ways to win it is a little concering that other teams in the running like the Rangers, Canadiens, and Blues are well over the +40 mark. Frederik Andersen gets the call here as he will go up against Cam Talbot.
The Rangers have been one of the most impressive teams in the league this season and after getting off to a slow start they have come a long way and are right back in the mix for the top seed in the Eastern Conference. New York has gone on an incredible run and have done so without arguably their best player in goaltender Henrik Lundqvist who remains sidelined with a neck injury and isn't hurrying back in large part due to the play of Talbot In relief. The Blue Shirts to me are hands down the best team in the Metro division and should have top spot locked up ahead of the Islanders and Penguins but they will be in tough to take down whoever emerges out of the Atlantic division as they are three of the better teams in the league let alone the Conference and New York's quest to repeat as East champs will be a tough one to achieve. The value in this game is on the visitors as they will be well prepared for this game but I do think New York is the better team so the dilemma is real. I do think though this one will be a tight one especially with New York playing in a back to back and as such this one should stay under the number.
