We hockey fans have pretty slim pickings in the NHL tonight, as there are just three matchups on the schedule. Still, we should see some pretty good hockey out there as teams jockey for position in the playoff race. Let’s now take our daily look around the league and see what’s new out there.

Anze Kopitar, C, Los Angeles Kings: The Kings continued their critical five-game road trip with another win last night at Madison Square Garden. L.A. took care of the Rangers 4-2, overcoming an early goal in the opening minute.
Kopitar posted two assists, while Jonathan Quick came up with 34 saves on 36 shots.
Los Angeles is now 36-23-14 and is in a heated race for the playoffs.

Alexander Steen, LW, St. Louis Blues: Steen got to play the hero last night in Pittsburgh, tallying the game-winning goal in overtime to get St. Louis to a 3-2 victory at Consol Energy Center.
That win brings the Blues to 46-21-7 on the season, leading Nashville by one point for first place in the division.
St. Louis got eight of 12 possible points on a six-game road trip.

David Moss, RW, Arizona Coyotes: Let’s check out another overtime game in Detroit between the Red Wings and the Coyotes. Moss scored twice in this one, clearing the table for Mark Arcobello’s game-winner in the extra period for a 5-4 victory.
This ended Arizona’s eight-game losing streak, and was Arcobello’s 15th goal of the season.

Filip Forsberg, C, Nashville Predators: While we’re on the subject of overtime games, let’s finish up with the other one from last night’s action. Forsberg scored at 1:54 into the extra period, giving Nashville a 3-2 win over the Canadiens at Bridgestone Arena. It was his 22nd goal of the year.
Nashville is now 45-21-8, hot on the tail of St. Louis, who leads the division by one point. The Preds are 28-7-2 at home and have won two in a row.
