The Winnipeg Jets visit the Pepsi Center to take the ice with the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday.
The Winnipeg Jets are battling to hold on to the final Wild Card in the Western Conference and did just that Tuesday with a 1-0 victory at St Louis who are fighting to win the Central Division. The Jets scored the only goal of the contest in the second period when Chris Thorburn backhanded a rebound off a Jim Slater shot at 2:31 past Jake Allen who was spectacular in defeat with a 30 stop performance. Ondrej Pavelec was even better as he stopped 30 pucks for consecutive shutouts as he posted 32 saves in a shutout at Minnesota on Monday. The red hot net minder now has four shutouts on the season as he tries to contain Colorado at the Pepsi Center on Thursday.

The Colorado Avalanche played the role of spoiler perfectly in knocking off Nashville 3-2 on Tuesday night. Now they get to do it again when the Winnipeg Jets visit the Pepsi Center looking to secure the second Wild Card. Joe Hishon scored his first career goal 7:06 of the final frame on a wrist shot to snap a 2-2 contest while Ryan O’Reilly and Jarome Iginla score less the ten seconds apart in the second. Semyon Varlamov recorded 40 stops to pick up the win. The Predators received goals from Calle Jarnkrok with Ryan Ellis lighting the lamp with the man advantage at1:20 of the third to knot the game at 2-2. Pekka Rinne absorbed the loss with 20 stops as Nashville’s current slide reached four contests and kept the team from overtaking the Blues for the Central lead with St Louis also losing.
Winnipeg are 8-0 in their last 8 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game while the over is 4-0-1 in Jets last 5 in the fourth game of a 4-in-6 days situation with the Jets going 6-1 in their last 7 games playing on 1 days rest. The Avalanche are 4-1 in their last 5 home games while the over is 4-1 in Avalanche last 5 games playing on 1 days rest and is 15-5-1 in Avalanche last 21 when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game. Head to head the home team is 6-0 in the last 6 meetings with the under going 5-1 in the last 6 meetings in Colorado while the Jets are 4-1 in the last 5 meetings. No line is out pending goalies but I lean Winnipeg right now…
