NHL Daily Updates: Checking in on the Latest News, Daily Schedule and More
April 10, 2015
There are just 17 games left in the NHL regular season, taking place tonight and tomorrow. Only two games are happening tonight, so it’ll be a pretty quiet evening relatively speaking. In the meantime, let’s check out some of the notable players and situations out there.
Jonas Hiller, G, Calgary Flames: Call it a Stanley Cup hangover. The defending champion Los Angeles Kings were officially eliminated from the playoffs last night, following a 3-1 loss to the Flames.
Hiller made 33 saves on 34 shots and Jiri Hudler scored twice and added an assist.
With the win, Calgary clinches their own slot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. It’ll be their first since 2009.

Jaromir Jagr, RW, Florida Panthers: The Panthers also crushed the hopes of their opponents last night, effectively ending the Bruins’ playoff aspirations with a 4-2 victory. Jagr had two assists in the win, while Roberto Luongo posted 34 saves on 36 shots.
Boston can still technically make the playoffs, but they’ll need help from the Senators and Penguins to do it.
Jake Allen, G, St. Louis Blues: The St. Louis Blues are your NHL Central Division champs, following a 2-1 victory over the Blackhawks last night. Allen made 21 saves, while Dmitrij Jaskin and Paul Stastny scored.
As recently as February 24, the Blues trailed the Predators by nine points in the Central Division standings. The fact that they were able to catch Nashville is nothing short of remarkable.
Eddie Lack, G, Vancouver Canucks: The Canucks took care of the Coyotes pretty easily last night, posting a 5-0 win. Lack had 28 saves in the shutout, while Yannick Weber scored twice. Alexander Edler put up three assists.
The Canucks have secured their spot in the playoffs and will play the Flames in the first round. There’s still a question remaining of home ice in that matchup, however.
NHL Daily Schedule: Here’s a look at the upcoming games on the NHL schedule, including the start times and TV networks where you can catch each matchup.
