The Edmonton Oilers close out the regular season with a visit to the Rogers Center to face the Vancouver Canucks.
The Edmonton Oilers will be on the road to finish the year after suffering through a disappointing 3-1 defeat at the hands of visiting San Jose on Thursday night. The Oilers led 1-0 heading in to the final 20 minutes only to watch the Sharks score three straight times. Bryan Lerg scored the game winner with his first career goal with Matt Nieto adding an empty net tally. Patrick Marleau scored the first San Jose goal while Antti Niemi got the win with 26 stops as the Sharks suddenly came to life mid way through the third after being silent for the first 2 ½ periods. The Vancouver Canucks head in to the final game of the regular season needing a point or Calgary loss to clinch second in the Pacific Division and the all important home ice versus first round opponent Calgary. The Canucks have won consecutive contests after dominating Arizona 5-0 on Thursday night. Eddie Lack recorded 28 saves to pick up the victory and post his second shutout of the season. Yannick Weber paced the Vancouver offense with a pair of goals while Ronalds Kenins, Daniel Sedin and Dan Humhius also found the back of the net. The loss went to Mike Smith who was charged with four goals on 24 shots with the last goal given up by Louis Domingue on eight shots in relief as the Coyotes fell for the fifth time six contests
The under is 4-0 in Oilers last 4 when their opponent scores 5 goals or more in their previous game while the over is 6-1 in Oilers last 7 road games and is 5-1 in Oilers last 6 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game. The under is 4-0-2 in Canucks last 6 home games versus a team with a road winning % of less than .400 with the over going 4-0-2 in Canucks last 6 after scoring 5 goals or more in their previous game while the Canucks are 4-0 in their last 4 vs. Pacific. Head to head the Oilers are 0-4 in the last 4 meetings and are 7-19 in the last 26 meetings in Vancouver while the road team is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings. No line is out but the Canucks need a win for home ice so I lean their way in some form…
