After a crazy day of on-ice action yesterday, the NHL regular season is all finished up. We’ve now got a glimpse of the first-round matchups for the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs (which begin Wednesday), but before we jump into that let’s take a look at some of the key players from this morning’s headlines.

Andrew Hammond, G, Ottawa Senators: The Senators’ run recently has been nothing short of remarkable, and with a win over the Flyers yesterday, they clinched a playoff berth for the first time in three seasons.
Hammond anchored the defense with 34 saves on 35 shots in the 3-1 win, while Mark Stone scored twice.
Over the last 27 games of the regular season, the Senators put up an enviable 21-3-3 record.

Kevin Hayes, RW, New York Rangers: The Rangers clinched the President’s Cup earlier this week, but that didn’t cause them to ease up on the last day of the regular season. The Boys in Blue took a 4-2 win over the Capitals yesterday in Washington, with Hayes accounting for a goal and an assist.
The Rangers finish with a 23-6-1 record against opponents from the Metropolitan Division this year. As for the Caps, they’ll be facing the Islanders in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.

Brandon Sutter, C, Pittsburgh Penguins: It took them until the last day of the season to do it, but the Pens finally got into the Stanley Cup Playoffs. They clinched an appearance with a 2-0 win over the Sabres in Buffalo yesterday and will be seeing the Rangers in the first round.
Sutter got two goals in the decisive victory, while Marc-Andre Fleury provided 28 saves in the shutout. The win stops a five-game losing streak for them.

Petr Mrazek, G, Detroit Red Wings: Mrazek posted a shutout on the Hurricanes in Raleigh last night, logging 35 saves in a 2-0 victory. Landon Ferraro put up his first NHL goal in the victory.
Detroit clinched third in the Atlantic on this one, and will face Tampa Bay in the first round of the playoffs.
