The Chicago Blackhawks begin the 2015 Stanley Cup playoffs on the road at the Nashville Predators.
The Chicago Blackhawks entered the final few weeks of the season with a chance to overtake Nashville for second in the Central but those hopes went out the window with a four game skid to end the year with just five goals to their credit. The Blackhawks have firepower offensively although they didn’t always show it with 2.7 goals per game for 17th in the NHL even though they were tops in the league with almost 34 shots. The defensive end is where Chicago excelled with the number two defense giving up 2.3 goals. Jonathan Toews paced the offense with 66 points (28 G) in 81 games while Patrick Kane was second in scoring despite missing 20 games with 64 points including 27 goals. Goalie Corey Crawford appeared in 57 games with a 2.27 GAA and finished at 32-25.

The Nashville Predators were challenging St Louis for the Central crown before ending the year in a funk that saw the team drop six in a row. The Predators were somewhat middle of the row offensively at 2.8 goals which was 14th even though the team was third in shots at almost 32 per contest. The Predators were above average defensively with 2.5 goals allowed to crack the top ten in the game. Filip Forsberg was the top scoring threat with a team leading 26 goals (63 pts) with Mike Ribeiro logging 62 points and 16 goals in what could be considered a sore by committee squad. Pekka Rinne was outstanding in the nets with a 2.18 goals against average with a .923 save percentage on his way to a 41 win season.
The under is 4-0-2 in Blackhawks last 6 versus Western Conference and the under is 3-0-1 in Blackhawks last 4 vs. Central while Chicago are 0-4 in their last 4 overall. The Predators are 0-6 in their last 6 overall and 0-8 in their last 8 vs. Western Conference while the under is 2-0-3 in Predators last 5 Conference Quarterfinals games. Head to head the home team is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings while the under is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings and 5-2 in the last 7 meetings in Nashville. Neither team looked good to end the season but if Kane comes back from injury I prefer Chicago…
