The Blues and Wild meet up in St, Louis for what should be an incredibly physical, and low scoring affair.

The Minnesota Wild made an incredible run in the second half of the regular season to not only make the playoffs but escape the wild card bracket and now set up a great first round match up with the St. Louis Blues. Minny pulled off a first round upset in last year's playoffs as they upended the Central division champs from Colorado and now they have a chance to repeat and perhaps move deep into the Western Conference playoffs but their path will be very difficult as they start with the Blues and if successful will have a second round date with either the Blackhawks or Predators. For now though the Wild will turn their attention to Jake Allen and the Blues and they will counter with Devan Dubnyk who has been a savior since coming over from Arizona.
The Blues are the trendy pick to not only win the Western Conference but are favoured to win the Stanley Cup according to a large percentage of people and for good reason as they are a team that has been building towards a run like this and if not now then when? St. Louis has great goaltending in the form of Jake Allen, a young but talented blue line, and plenty of punch up front especially in the form of secondary scoring which has been something this team has lacked in their previous Cup runs. St. Louis is dangerous and should be treated as such but this series has the makings of going the distance and this Wild team is one that could make a Cup run if they can get through the Blues. The easy call here seems to be on the total and while day one has proved that the unders are no safe bet come playoff time I think the way these teams play the under is the only play.
