The New York Rangers shoot for another win at the Consol Energy Center versus the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The Pittsburgh Penguins were given little chance of knocking off to powerhouse Rangers so leaving New York with the series knotted at a game apiece was a surprising feat to many. However the Penguins lost an opportunity to put the Rangers on their heels in Monday’s 2-1 defeat that gave the NYR the home ice advantage once again. The Penguins defense has held their own but the star studded offense simply didn’t do enough to get the job done. Of course Henrik Lundqvist had plenty to do with the Pens inability to score. Patric Hornqvist was the only source of offense for the Pens with his goal late in the final frame while Marc-Andre Fluery absorbed the defeat with 24 saves.

The numbers say the New York Rangers are the best team in the land this season and being number one means they have a bull’s eye on their backs. It’s obvious the Penguins have upped their intensity and are giving the Rangers a tough time but on the flip side the New Yorkers are responding. Game three saw New York take an early lead with Carl Hagelin scoring in the first with Chris Kreider lighting the lamp in the second for a 2-0 bulge. Give New York a 2-0 lead heading in to the third is formidable for any team in the game and scary when trying to stay alive in the postseason. Lundqvist made sure the Pens were held in check with 23 saves in the win for a 2-1 series lead heading in to game four at Pittsburgh.
The under is 3-0-2 in Rangers last 5 Wednesday games while New York are 4-0 in their last 4 road games vs. a team with a winning home record while the over is 6-1-1 in Rangers last 8 when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game. The under is 5-0-1 in Penguins last 6 home games and is 7-1-1 in Penguins last 9 Wednesday games while the Penguins are 2-11 in their last 13 vs. Eastern Conference. Head to head the Rangers are 8-2 in the last 10 meetings and are 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in Pittsburgh. No goalies have been named but I lean New York for now but please check back…
