The Scotiabank Saddledome and the Calgary Flames host the Vancouver Canucks in game six Saturday.
The Calgary Flames looked to advance to the Western Conference semifinals with a win at Vancouver on Thursday but couldn’t close the deal in a 2-1 defeat that shrunk their series lead to 3-2 as the series heads back to the Scotiabank Saddledome where Calgary will once again try to eliminate the Canucks. Things started off well enough with Calgary scoring first only 2:40 in to the opening period when David Jones wrist shot eluded Ryan Miller. The Flames missed a golden opportunity when Mason Raymond had a breakaway but didn’t even get a shot off as he lost control of the puck which was par for the course with the offence mustering just 21 shots. Jonas Hiller absorbed the loss despite a solid 41 save performance.

The Vancouver Canucks are really hard to predict but if the play as they did Thursday I predict they win the Stanley Cup. I watched this game and this was dominated by the home team despite the score as they peppered Hiller with shots and kept the puck off of Ryan Miller as they outshot the Flames 43-21. Even when they weren’t shooting the puck they seemed to spend most of the game in the skating around Hiller. Nick Bonino and Daniel Sedin supplied the offense for Vancouver while Miller was far from busy with a 20 save performance. Eddie lack backed up Miller after a poor game four effort.
The over is 3-0-1 in Canucks last 4 Saturday games and the under is 4-0-1 in Canucks last 5 when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game while Vancouver are 0-4 in their last 4 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. The Flames are 4-0 in their last 4 home games and the over is 3-0-1 in Flames last 4 when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game while Calgary are 1-6 in their last 7 when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game. The home team is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings and the under is 5-1-2 in the last 8 meetings while the over is 11-4-3 in the last 18 meetings in Calgary. I’m waiting to see who Vancouver has between the pipes so please check back…
