The Nashville Predators look to keep their season alive at the United Center versus the Chicago Blackhawks Saturday.
The Chicago Blackhawks could have eliminated Nashville Thursday night and resting in preparation for the Western Conference semifinals. However it turned in to a disaster late in a 5-2 defeat that narrowed their series lead to 3-2. This was a 1-1 game until the Predators found their offense in the third period and it was 4-1 in the blink of an eye. Brad Richards and Kris Versteeg supplied the Blackhawks with goals while Scott Darling was saddled with the loss with four goals allowed on 28 shots. The bottom line was the Chicago defense was out of position all too often and their scoring was unable to keep the pace especially during the third period when the Preds could do no wrong.

The Nashville Predators have their playoff lives on the line once again on Saturday and if they perform as they did in game five their chance of surviving are pretty good. The Predators and Black hawks were locked in a defensive battle until the third where a 1-1 game quickly turned in to a 4-1 bulge which meant there would be a game number six. Filip Forsberg was the offensive star with a hat trick with Colin Wilson and James Neal also finding the back of the net with Neal adding an assist.Pekka Rinne was the benefactor of the offensive outburst with a 28 stop performance to get the win. The Predators broke things open with three goals just over three minutes in to the third.
The over is 4-0 in Predators last 4 when their opponent allows 5 goals or more in their previous game and is 3-0-2 in Predators last 5 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game while the over is 4-0-2 in Predators last 6 when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game. The over is 6-1-1 in Blackhawks last 8 Conference Quarterfinals games and the Blackhawks are 12-2 in their last 14 games following a loss of 3 or more goals while the over is 9-2-1 in Blackhawks last 12 when their opponent scores 5 goals or more in their previous game. The Predators are 0-4 in the last 4 meetings in Chicago and the home team is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings while the over is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings. Still waiting for a line and goalie confirmation…
