The Ottawa Senators battle the Montreal Canadiens at the Canadian Tire Centre in game six on Sunday.
The Montreal Canadiens looked like a sure bet to advance to the Eastern Conference semifinals when they had a 3-0 series lead on Ottawa. However nothing is a sure thing now especially when the Senators cut the series lead to 3-2 after a 5-1 decision at the Bell Centre on Friday. Sometimes the final score doesn’t tell the entire story but it did in this case as the Habs were simply outplayed in all phases of the game. The offense had zero going with a late third period tally off the stick off the stick of Tom Gilbert which did little more then prevent the shutout. Carey Price has received a lot of positive press and deservedly so but not on Friday with all five goals allowed on just 25 shots.

The Ottawa Senators played the best hockey we’ve seen in this series in game five on Friday and were rewarded with a lopsided win and now have an opportunity to win their third straight and send this series to a 7th and deciding game. The Senators were the better team from the drop of the puck and truthfully shouldn’t wave been down 3-0 in the series. Craig Anderson outplayed his counterpart for the second consecutive game with 45 saves after shutting out the Canadiens in game four. The question is whether we will see Andrew Hammond again and I know the answer to that. Mike Hoffman recorded a goal and a helper with Patrick Wiercioch, Erik Karlsson, Bobby Ryan and Erik Condra each lighting the lamp.
The under is 3-0-2 in Canadiens last 5 following a home loss of 3 or more goals and is 6-1-6 in Canadiens last 13 Sunday games while going 6-1-3 in Canadiens last 10 following a loss of 3 or more goals. The Senators are 17-4 in their last 21 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game and are 17-4 in their last 21 games playing on 1 days rest while the over is 4-1 in Senators last 5 after scoring 5 goals or more in their previous game. The Canadiens are 3-9 in the last 12 meetings in Ottawa and the over is 8-3-2 in the last 13 meetings while the home team is 18-8 in the last 26 meetings. I don’t know what to think right now but Ottawa should have some mojo…
