The New York Islanders look to prolong their improbable season and get another series at the Coliseum but they know it'll be a tough task to accomplish going into the Verizon Center against the Capitals. The Isles have come a long way over the last few seasons and after their first round effort against the Pens last year set them up for big things this year they'll look to overcome that block and move into the second round at the very least. The Isles would love a shot at taking down their cross town rivals and with the victory here they would set up a grudge match series against the Rangers where a victory there would earn them a spot in the Eastern Conference finals. However, we can't get ahead of ourselves as the Caps are a very good team, especially at home and will be gunning for a ticket against the Blue Shirts as well.
The Capitals have been up and down so far in this series but on the whole I think they have been the better team and in a game seven scenario on home ice it is clear to assume them as favourites to win this contest. Alex Ovechkin has been relatively quiet throughout this series, as has been his reputation throughout his career but if he steps up tonight and leads the Caps to a series win it would be the first step to redemption and would set up a great opportunity to go head to head with one of the league's best defensive squads. The Caps were a team at the beginning of the playoffs that I thought had a great chance to make a run and while I am a little more reserved with their potential I do think they get the win tonight and take a big series win away from New York.
