NHL Daily Updates: Checking in on the Latest News, Daily Schedule and More
May 3, 2015
After just one game yesterday in the 2015 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs, we’ve got a three-matchup set coming tonight. While we’re getting settled in and waiting on game-time, let’s check out some of the notable players and situations out there in the headlines.
Henrik Lundqvist, G, New York Rangers: Yesterday at the Garden, the Rangers were able to come out on top of the Capitals and even their second-round series 1-1. Lundqvist made 30 saves in the 3-2 win, some becoming destined for the highlight reel.
On the other side, Evgeny Kuznetsov and Alex Ovechkin each scored, while Braden Holtby made 32 saves in a solid effort for Washington.
Now the series switches to DC at Verizon Center. Game 3 is tomorrow at 7:30 PM ET.

Let’s check out a few practice notes for the Flames this morning; they’re dealing with some injuries heading into their Game 2 today against the Ducks.
Michael Ferland did not participate in practice yesterday; he’s dealing with an undisclosed issue. Reports late last week had him likely to play today, but this casts some doubt on his availability.
In brighter news, Jiri Hudler, Raphael Diaz and Mark Giordano were all able to take the ice in practice yesterday.
Hudler has an undisclosed injury and we should get an update before game-time.
Diaz has a lower-body issue and has now taken part in two practices in a row.
As for Giordano, he’s got a biceps injury. It’s not likely he’ll be ready to return to the ice today, however his return doesn’t seem too far off now.
