The Washington Capitals had the New York Rangers heading into a must win game five situation and were unable to bury the reigning Eastern Conference champions and after another loss in game six the Caps could will be on their way out with a loss tonight. The Caps looked as though they had turned a corner after years of underachieving and failing to make it out of the second round and while they can still right the ship and advance to the next round with a win they are considered big time underdogs at this point and will be hard pressed to find a way through Henrik Lundqvist. Alex Ovechkin has already guaranteed a victory for his team in this one but he hasn't been able to back it up on the ice of late so if he is going to hold true to his word he is going to have to break out of his scoring funk.
The Rangers meanwhile are a win away from pulling off an impressive come back and one that looked very improbable a week ago but after two straight team wins they look poised to once again return to the Eastern Conference finals. The Blue Shirts were the better team all season but the Caps have shown up in this series and to be honest they should very well have already locked up a place in the East finals. Lundqvist has been solid but so had Braden Holtby and if he can give the Caps the same effort as his counterpart does for New York than they are more than capable of pulling off the win even though it's in new York. The better play here is on the total and while it has started to move down to the 4.5 mark I don't think we get anywhere near that number in what I see as a 2-1 final in overtime.
