The Anaheim Ducks head to the United Center for game three against the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday.
The Anaheim Ducks had an opportunity to put Chicago behind the eight ball with a win in game two that would have sent them to the United Center with a 2-0 series lead. Instead the series is knotted at a game apiece following the Blackhawks 3-2, three overtime victory in game number two. The Ducks were hit with a pair of first period power play goals to fall behind 2-0 before coming back to tie the score but they were only able to beat Corey Crawford twice despite peppering him with 62 shots. Corey Perry and Andrew Cogliano supplied the offense for Anaheim with Frederik Andersen recording 53 saves in the loss which was the Ducks first defeat at home in the postseason.

Anytime a team wins an overtime contest there has to be a big sigh of relief and a momentum boost especially when it’s three overtimes in the playoffs on the road. That’s what I feel about the Chicago Blackhawks win in game two and what the consequences could have been. The Blackhawks saddled the Ducks with their lone home loss Tuesday to even the series and steal the home ice advantage heading back to the United Center. The opportunistic Hawks began the game with a pair of power play goals off the sticks of Andrew Shaw and Marian Hossa for a 2-0 by the 6:19 mark of the first. Shaw had a goal waved off in the second OT when it was ruled he pushed the puck in with his head. However Marcus Kruger ended the game with 3:48 left in the 3rd OT to make a 60 stop effort by Corey Crawford stand up.
The over is 4-0 in Ducks last 4 road games and is 2-0-2 in Ducks last 4 vs. Central while Anaheim are 5-0 in their last 5 Thursday games. The under is 1-0-3 in Blackhawks last 4 vs. Pacific and the Blackhawks are 5-0 in their last 5 games playing on 1 days rest while the over is 7-1-3 in Blackhawks last 11 Conference Finals games. The under is 9-1 in the last 10 meetings in Chicago and the road team is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings while the Ducks are 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in Chicago. No line is out but I’m looking at Chicago right now so please check back…
