NHL Daily Updates: Checking in on the Latest News, Daily Schedule and More
May 21, 2015
Game 3 of what’s so far been a very interesting series in the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs Western Conference Finals is set to begin tonight. In the meantime, we’ve got plenty to talk about today in our daily wrap-up before that puck drops. Let’s check out some of the notable happenings out there.
Nikita Kucherov, RW, Tampa Bay Lightning: The Lightning successfully defended their home ice in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals last night against the visiting Rangers, giving the team a 2-1 lead and control of the series.
This was another high-scoring affair, and it took overtime to decide a winner. Kucherov scored 3:33 into the extra period to give Tampa a 6-5 victory. Ondrej Palat managed two goals and an assist on four shots, while Jesper Fast scored twice on the other side.
The Lightning have now scored 12 goals in just two games, and the Rangers need to find a solution to the offensive onslaught or they’ll be going home quickly.
Game 4 is tomorrow night in Tampa.

Let’s take a moment to check in on the Senators and their off-season activities. The team signed goalie Andrew Hammond to a three-year, $4.05 million contract extension yesterday, making him and Craig Anderson both locked in for at least three more years.
Hammond’s success story seemed near unthinkable at this time last year, but he’s made his star-turning run worth it. The signing now gives the Senators a glut of options at the goalie position with Hammond, Anderson and Matt O’Connor in the fray. Robin Lehner seems to be the odd man out, and will probably get shopped in the off-season.
