The New York Rangers host the Tampa Bay Lightning in a decisive game seven on Friday night.
The Tampa Bay Lightning and their high powered offense proved to be no match for the Rangers in a 7-3 defeat in game number six at Amalie Arena on Tuesday. The Lightning could have advanced to the Stanley Cup finals with a win for the first time since 2004 but instead have to travel to Madison Square Garden on Friday night. The home team received a pair of tallies from Nikita Kucherov while Ryan Callahan also lit the lamp. The play of Ben Bishop has to be a concern as he was charged with five goals on 26 shots before Andrei Vasilevsky came on to allow a goal on seven shots. Despite the loss Tampa Bay should have some confidence as they have beaten the Rangers at Madison Square Garden and have played better there then on home ice.

The New York Rangers are proving to be tough to kill after surviving yet another elimination game behind a huge offensive night. The Rangers never trailed and took a 2-1 lead in to the third before exploding for five goals. Derick Brassard was unstoppable with a hat trick and a pair of helpers although he had plenty of help. Keith Yandle and James Sheppard also scored while Rick Nash and JT Miller added a goal and assist each. Henrik Lundqvist saw plenty of rubber but stood tall with a 36 save performance to send his team to a decisive game number seven in New York. The Rangers need another strong effort from their netminder Friday as the Lightning have zero fear playing at MSG where they have won six of seven.
The under is 3-0-1 in Lightning last 4 games playing on 2 days rest while the Lightning are 5-1 in their last 6 games playing on 2 days rest and 5-1 in their last 6 games following a loss of 3 or more goals. The under is 4-0-1 in Rangers last 5 games playing on 2 days rest and is 6-1-1 in Rangers last 8 home games while going 5-1-1 in Rangers last 7 Friday games. Lightning are 5-1 in the last 6 meetings in New York and the road team is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings while the over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings. No line is out and that’s just as well because I need to look deep in to this because I haven’t done well in this series…
